J.R.'s Rib Shack: The Best BBQ Ribs in Panama City!

We drove pretty far to get here but I wasn’t displeased at all! Customer service was great, I really wish I remembered our waitress name because she was great and quick as well. The food was nicely priced, I loved the baked beans and the wings smoked flavor (but it didn’t have much other flavor besides that), they were a good size and cooked to perfection! I will also say that the side dishes were lackluster but the meat was pretty good with the sauces on them. The sweet tea was great! Great menu— very extensive and food is a good price for the portion!

Amazing food, always fresh and a hit, I’ve been eating here since I was a little girl. The ladies working are always so nice. We had the pleasure of having Zandria as our waitress tonight and she’s all around an amazing bubbly person! Thanks JR’s

Food was above average, store was reasonably clean and the service was fast and friendly. They have lunch specials and menu prices are fairly reasonable. Brunswick Stew was one of the better I have ever had. Table had sweet, mild and hot BBQ sauce. I couldn't tell a difference between mild and hot, but the flavor was good. Most of the parking lot is a loose sandy gravel and is quite dusty when it's dry. Parking lot access from 22 and North Star, so in and out isn't too bad, even when traffic is heavy. Has indoor and outdoor seating and offer catering services.

One of my most favorite BBQ places. The BBQ is delicious, they have awesome chicken salads, fries green tomatoes and the potato salad is very good with the collard greens. Can't be disappointed eating here!

While visiting the area a group of us decided to try some local BBQ. The first place we went to had us wait 30mins just to tell us they were out of the main meats. So I hopped on google and found J.R.’s was 5 mins up the road so we made the audible. We were greeted with a homestyle atmosphere and southern hospitality from the server. The menu had some great options but what stood out was the AYCE ribs option. For the price I had to ask was it real and sure enough it was. It even came with 2 sides and Texas toast. We also had the option to swap out sides if we wanted. A couple of us went with the AYCE ribs while others tried some of the other options. I started with some fried green tomatoes which were amazing with the crack sauce they have. Then my first batch of ribs and sliced beef arrived. While the beef isn’t brisket it was still very flavorful and tender. The full spare ribs had a nice smoke to them and were perfectly cooked. Still had bite but still pulled away from the bone clean. You really don’t need sauce but they do have a few options at the table to help complement the ribs. 3 baskets later I was full but couldn’t resist the apple cobbler for dessert. I got it to-go but still tapped into it while we waited to pay. But just when I thought our experience was over, they asked if we wanted to try their blueberry pineapple cobbler…. Wait what?!. Absolutely! We shared a nice sample of it with some ice cream which then made me buy some to-go as well. Yes, I went full big back . Everything was so good including the food of my 6 other coworkers that I suggested my other coworkers go the next day. I’m told they had a great experience as well. As a certified foodie, I highly recommend you try it for yourself. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area.

I wasn’t too hopeful about this place. It’s the first time I’ve ever been here. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! The ribs were fantastic! They fall off the bone and they serve them with four kinds of sauce mild hot, sweet and extra hot! I tried four or five different sides, and everyone was as good as the last. You can mix and match your sides and they’re all you can eat as well. I recommend their Brunswick stew as a side. It was excellent! The waitress I had was the best waitress I’ve ever come across. So much Unfortunately, I don’t recall her name, but I would highly recommend this rib shack. I drove almost 20 miles from Panama City Beach and it was worth every mile! I’ll be back.

This place is awesome! We have tried their ribs, they are fall of the bone, tender, the best ribs I've ever eaten! We have tried their smoked chicken, it's tender juicy, overall great! The sides are great! You can get all you can eat, which is great for my husband, who leaves full every time and at a great price! Tuesday, kids eat free, and my 2 love their little drumettes! We 10 out of 10 recommend this place!

First time eating inside and loved it. Food was excellent, service was great and friendly, and didn't have to wait to be seated, sit where you want. Plan on returning and trying out more meats as I had the Beef Plate.
